The South’s Best Cities 2017

Souths Best City

Southern Living Magazine named Savannah, GA as one of the South’s Best Cities! Savannah was named as number 2 best city in fact, right behind our sister city, Charleston, SC. Of course, we think Savannah is the best city in the South, and here is why:

1. The Beauty

Savannah is arguably one of the most uniquely beautiful cities in the United States. Take a stroll through the squares and you will see why. Hundreds of ancient live oak trees draped in Spanish moss always seem to offer the perfect amount of shade, and different flowers bloom all year long. Make sure to stroll down Jones Street to get a glimpse of some of the most beautiful gardens in Georgia. The historic architecture of Savannah adds to this beauty.  Savannah is an incredibly walkable city. Stroll the streets at a leisurely pace and take it all in!

2. The History

Savannah’s history runs deep! There are dozens of historical landmarks, homes, and sites both inside and outside of Downtown Savannah. As you walk through Savannah, you will see historical buildings being repurposed for new shops and restaurants, as well as several historical homes you can tour. Nearly 40 percent of the 2,500 buildings have architectural or historical significance. The mix of old and new together is what makes Savannah so great! Click here for a list of must see sites.
