About the Tour
The Women’s Auxiliary Church of Chris held the first Savannah Tour of Homes in 1935 to help raise funds for the community during the Great Depression. Since then, The church has partnered with the Historic Savannah Foundation host one of the most sought after events in Savannah. In 1935, the Historical Savannah Foundation was founded by seven women determined to save the Davenport House from demolition. To this day, the foundation works to preserve this history of Savannah. Proceeds from the Tour of Homes are used for preservation projects in Savannah, and are given to several charities in the community.
