Skidaway State Park is the perfect peaceful getaway from an afternoon run, leisurely stroll, or weekend camping trip in Savannah. You will have a hard time believing you are only 15 minutes from Downtown Savannah. Skidaway park is incredibly quiet, clean, and surrounds you with the unique lanscape of the low country. The park offers 6 miles of winding trails through the maritime forest, past the salt marsh, and along the Intercostal Waterway. Different loops allow you to make your journey as short or long as your prefer. A majority of the trail is shaded by the giant Spanish Moss covered trees.
The park suffered damage from Hurricane Matthew, so some of the paths are currently closed to visitors – however there are still plenty of trails to get in the perfect weekend run. Pets are allowed to join as well. For the kids, there is a small nature center, playground, bike rentals, and Geocaching available! We encourage you to pack a lunch and eat at one of the picnic tables along the waterway – you will not be disappointed!
Admittance to Skidaway Island is only $5 for parking, and there is also a $50 annual pass available. This pass allows you access into any Georgia State park, as well as some other perks. Click here to learn more.
